The analysis of inorganic materials

Fibrous materials can pose significant risks to health and are associated with major health issues across the world. Indeed, asbestos-related diseases constitute the biggest cause of work-related deaths in the UK. Currently available procedures for evaluation of asbestos contamination are relatively slow, costly and inconvenient. This project aims to devise novel spectroscopic approaches for efficient and rapid environmental monitoring of asbestos containing materials.
