What are Electives?

Electives at Keele gives Keele students a unique opportunity to acquire the skills they need to succeed in their degrees and to extend their degree studies beyond their main subjects.   As an international student, English Language Unit modules offered through Electives allow you to focus on developing the specific English language skills that will be vital to your success at Keele.

Your Principal subjects will make up between 60 and 120 credits of the 120 credits you will take in your first year, elective modules will make up the rest. You will take elective modules to the value of between 15 and 60 credits, depending upon your chosen Principal course, to enable you to study a total of 120 credits. Find out more about the structure of your Keele degree.

It is important to remember that elective modules are an integral part of your first year studies at Keele, and it is just as important that you pass these modules as those from your Principal course. You will need 120 credits to progress to your second year, and 360 credits to be awarded a degree.
