School Direct Secondary (11-16)

If you are interested in becoming a teacher and already have a degree, the following School Direct subjects are available:

  • Computer Science
  • English
  • Geography
  • History
  • Mathematics
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Science:  
    -     Biology
    - Chemistry
    - Physics
    - General Science (training bursaries may be available dependent upon your adacemic profile and subject specialism).

Entry Requirements:

  • Degree classification of a minimum of 2.2 in a relevant discipline.
  • GCSE in Mathematics and English Language Grade C or above (equilvalency tests may be offered in particular circumstances).
  • Prior recent and relevant experience in a UK Secondary school . 
  • All candidates applying for 2013 entry to Secondary School Direct will need to sit Professional Skills tests in English (Literacy) and Mathematics (Numeracy) prior to starting the programme.
  • For the SD (Salaried) route, you must have three years of work experience (not necessarily in an educational setting) to be eligible to apply.
