School Direct Primary (5 – 11)

Blue primary school students Our programme provides Associates Teachers (trainees) with the opportunity to develop as a subject leader. We offer four specialisms, and you will be guided to the most appropriate, dependent upon your prior experience and academic study.   Our areas of specialism are: 
  • Humanities
  • Languages
  • Mathematics
  • Science

Entry Requirements:

  • Degree classification of a minimum of 2.2 (a 2.1 is desirable). 
  • GCSE A*-C grades in English Language, Mathematics and Science (minimum of a B is desirable in respect of English Language).   
  • Appropriate subject knowledge (A level, degree or Level 3 equivalent study) to follow one of the subject specialisms.  Subject Knowledge Enhancement programmes may be available for suitable candidates. 
  • Substantial prior recent and relevant experience in a UK primary school, not simply observing, but also supporting children's learning.
  • All candidates applying for 2013 entry to Primary School Direct will need to sit Professional Skills tests in English (Literacy) and Mathematics (Numeracy) prior to starting the programme.  
  • For the School Direct (Salaried) route, you must have three years of work experience (not necessarily in an educational setting) to be eligble to apply.
