Managing Mentoring in Educational Settings

About the Module

Module Leader: Dr. Victoria Door

This module gives participants the opportunity to use knowledge, skills and understanding from previous experience from their practice situation in continuing to develop their own reflexive practice in the area of coaching and/or mentoring. At the same time it gives participants the chance to dig deeply into the debates surrounding coaching and mentoring. There is the opportunity to critically examine the commonly used theoretical models and practical approaches to working with other professionals in a coaching or mentoring relationship. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own model(s) in the light of their developing understanding.

Aims

The module aims to increase students’ awareness of the contested nature of coaching and mentoring and its use in educational settings

It aims to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to evaluate a range of models, and to form their own personal model that is open to continuous modification and development.
