Legionella

Estates and Development have formulated a Policy and Procedure on Legionella. Please contact them or the Department of Occupational Health and Safety for the definitive document.

The primary source of Legionella is cooling towers, and there are none in the University. The policy therefore focuses on routine preventative maintenance of showerheads and taps.

The risk to health from Legionella in the University is considered to be very low with these systems in place.
