School Roles:
I am currently module leader for the masters module “Concepts of Neurological Rehabilitation”. I also Chair the North Staffordshire Special Interest Group for Neurological Therapists (SIGNeT) and am Keele Hub representative for the National Physiotherapy Research Network (NPRN). I am a member of the Research Institute for Life Course Studies at Keele University.

Subject area taught:
I teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. My specialist area is neurology and neurological rehabilitation but am involved in teaching across many of the undergraduate modules.

Research interests:
My research interests are: effectiveness of therapy following stroke; recovery of the hemiplegic upper limb following stroke; the process and experience of rehabilitation and recovery for patients and carers following stroke; sensorimotor function in the upper limb.

Other information:
I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Withington Hospital School of Physiotherapy, Manchester. On completion of junior rotational posts in the North West and Staffordshire, I specialised in Neurological Rehabilitation and Elderly Care, working in the North East and Staffordshire as a specialist in Stroke Rehabilitation. I joined Keele University as a Lecturer/Practitioner in September 1997 and completed my PhD in 2004. I am currently employed as a full-time lecturer.
