We aim to integrate our teaching, and our support for the work of schools, with research that addresses central contemporary issues in education - in Britain, and, increasingly, in Europe.

With the close co-operation of local schools, we are a major provider of initial secondary teacher education, both at undergraduate (Educational Studies) and at postgraduate (PGCE) level. Through curriculum development projects, and support for action research, we work with schools to develop their capacities.

Through our MA, MBA and EdD programmes we support and inform theoretically the reflective activity of education professionals. Through research in education as social policy we aim to analyse and provoke discussion about current patterns of educational change.
