Elizabeth Symons obtained her BA in Economics, MSc in Econometrics and PhD degrees from the University of Southampton. A research assistantship at Manchester University was followed by at the University College of North Wales at Aberystwyth before moving to Keele. 

Her main research interests are tax/benefit modelling, labour supply, and wage determination.
