ISTM StudentshipInstitute for Science and Technology in Medicine , Keele University PhD by Research - Opportunities in ISTMResearch at Keele is presently undergoing a reorganisation which will merge the research strengths of the School of Life Sciences into the Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine (ISTM). A number of PhD studentships within the core research themes of the new Research Institute are now available. The core research themes of the new Research Institute are presently defined as Applied Imaging and Diagnostics Human Genomics and Disease Applied Entomology and Parasitology Cell & Tissue Engineering/Cell Physiology. APPLICATION PROCEDURETo facilitate the application process during this period of transition to Research Institutes, you should enter School of Life Sciences as the Department/Institute and inform the School of Life Sciences Director of Postgraduate Studies (t.j.greenhough@keele.ac.uk) or Postgraduate Secretary (l.j.cartlidge@keele.ac.uk) that you have made an application. Identify a research field of interest from the research pages of the present ISTM and the School of Life Sciences http://www.keele.ac.uk/depts/bi/research/research.html http://www.keele.ac.uk/depts/stm/cstm.html Apart from the 3 GTA posts and the Marie Curie Fellowship, the new Research Institute has not, as yet, allocated the above studentships to specific research areas or projects. Applications include a short personal statement. In this the prospective students should indicate why they wish to undertake a PhD, what their career aspirations are and why they are applying for the specific project. Applicants will be expected to show a commitment to, and enthusiasm for, research and should identify any experience that is relevant to their application.
