Welcome to the Historians of the Twentieth Century United States (HOTCUS) Website

In June 2007, Historians of the Twentieth-Century United States (HOTCUS) was established to facilitate and promote scholarship in the field of twentieth-century American history. Based in the United Kingdom, with strong links to the British Association of American Studies BAAS, British American Nineteenth Century Historians (BrANCH), the American Politics Group (APG) and many UK universities, the organization also welcomes members from Europe, the United States and the rest of the world. HOTCUS warmly encourages the participation of postgraduate members in its activities.

During its first year of operation, membership in the organization grew to around fifty. HOTCUS is developing its academic presence in three principal ways: through an annual conference, which is intended to serve as a showcase for new research across the field of twentieth-century American history; through an annual winter symposium on a specific theme; and through a panel presentation at the annual BAAS conference.

To join, please download, complete and return this HOTCUS application form to the Treasurer, Dr Daniel Scroop. Please click here to read the current HOTCUS Newsletter and Professor Iwan Morgan's report for 2008-09.
