If you would like to apply for the PGCE please do so via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry.

The digital versions of the application forms include a separate form indicating your ethnicity and any disability. This is for the purposes of equal opportunities monitoring and will not be taken into account in making any academic decisions on your application.

An application form may also be downloaded in Adobe PDF format if you prefer to write your application manually and post it to us. Acrobat Reader can be downloaded free from Adobe from the link below.

Please note that we cannot acknowledge receipt of applications which have not been made using our online application system.

Forms may be submitted at any time during the year. If you would wish to live on campus it is particularly important that you apply early. If you apply later than one month before the start of your intended course, we cannot guarantee that all the paperwork will be completed by the start date.

Making an Application

To complete the application form you need to give the following information:

• your relevant qualifications, including copies of certificates and transcripts where possible

• details of any courses you are completing at the time the application is submitted – if you are currently completing an undergraduate degree or equivalent and have transcripts of your progress please submit these with your application. You can make an application before
you complete your degree course and/or take your English language test – in these cases we make conditional offers.

We would encourage you to apply to Keele as early as possible.

• where appropriate, details of employment and professional experience

• a personal statement demonstrating clearly why you are applying for the course, the nature of your interest in it, and what benefits you expect to gain

• your English language qualifications

• the names of two referees (and references if available at this stage)

If you are posting your application to Keele, you need to send us the original application form, signed and dated by you, plus one copy of this form and two copies of each of the certificates and transcripts of your qualifications. We will also need two written references, from referees who can comment on your academic and professional work as appropriate; the references must be placed in a sealed envelope with the signature of the referee across the seal.

With the application there are two other forms – one indicating your ethnicity and any disability and one that is a survey of applicants. The first form is for equal opportunities monitoring and the second is to help us ensure that our information and processes are appropriate and
efficient. Neither form will be taken into account in making any academic decisions on your application, and you are not obliged to complete these, but it does help us if you can.

You can complete and send an application form online but you must post, fax or scan to us copies of transcripts and certificates. We can accept emailed references submitted from the referee’s email address only.

Please note that the processing of your application will be faster if you submit all your documentation at the same time.

All applications should be sent to the Postgraduate Office at the postal or email address shown on the application form. Please note that
we cannot acknowledge receipt of applications.

Professional Ethics courses also have specific deadlines for applications, further details may be found here.

For all other courses there is no closing date but we advise that applications for courses that start in September should, if possible, be made by the end of May at the very latest. If you would wish to live on campus it is particularly important that you apply early. If you apply later than one month before the start of your intended course, we cannot guarantee that all the paperwork will be completed by the start date.
