Application Procedure

In order to apply for an exchange or study abroad place at Keele please read the instructions below before downloading any of the forms.

Application form

This must be completed accurately and legibly and returned to the coordinator at your institution together with a copy of your transcript or record of courses taken so far and the grades achieved. You must also list any courses in progress for which you don't yet have grades. Application forms which have not been completed fully, i.e. the back of the form is left incomplete, will not be accepted. This will also delay the application process and potentially lead to you not getting access to the modules you need. It is important that you state the degree for which you are registered, and the year of study you are completing as this is not always clear from the transcript. Applications without copies of transcripts in English will not be accepted.

Equal Opportunities form

The equal opportunities information provided by you on this form will not be passed to selectors in academic schools and is not kept on your records. However, the University is required by the Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA) to collect certain information asked for on this form. Some of the information you provide will therefore be sent to HESA for statistical analysis.

Learning Agreement

Please ensure that you have chosen a sensible workload, approved by your academic coordinator and the ECTS Institutional Coordinator if such a person exists in your institution. Keele operates ECTS for all ERASMUS, Exchange and Study Abroad students and we have adopted all the principles of ECTS. This will ensure that your academic courses at Keele receive both academic recognition at your home institution and credit transfer. You will only be allowed to register for 30 ECTS for a semester or 60 ECTS for the full academic year. However, you must register for this number of credits to be considered a full-time student. We expect all Exchange students to follow exactly the same requirements as Keele students, including essays and examinations. It is therefore important that you check that you have completed the learning agreement in the order of priority in which you need to take the modules and that the modules listed on the form are listed in the Guide to Undergraduate Courses (ECTS Catalogue) in the appropriate semester. Credits in the Guide are per semester unless otherwise stated. See the Module catalogue.

Some Subject areas have indicated that there are restrictions on the number of places for certain modules, or that the Subject Tutor must be contacted prior to completion of the Learning Agreement. These modules are indicated by a # symbol. Please ensure that you contact the Subjectl Tutor, as there may well be timetable restrictions, which only the Schools know about. We will not be able to pre-register you for any courses marked with a # unless we have written proof that the Subject Tutor has agreed that you can take this course.

The list of current Subject Tutors is here.

If you wish to take Level III modules in English Literature, please ensure that you contact the School directly and obtain written permission. We will be unable to pre-register any student for a Level III English Literature module without written proof of acceptance from the English Subject Tutor at Keele.

Please note that an unsigned learning agreement will not be accepted. Therefore please complete the learning agreement with your tutor, ask for a copy of the signed agreement and then give the original to the tutor or the International Office as appropriate to send to Keele.

You are able to take a language course, even if you are here for just one semester, but it should form part of your study load of 30 ECTS. More information on language courses that Keele offers, is available.

Accommodation

We hope to be able to accommodate all Exchange students on campus in a single room. However, if you are an ERASMUS student and are allocated a room on campus you will be sharing a room with another ERASMUS student for the first few weeks of the semester. This applies in particular if you are only coming to Keele for a semester. The Student Accommodation Centre will try to undouble you as soon as possible. While sharing a room your rent will be half the normal rate for the room. Please complete the housing form and return it to your tutor if you wish to be considered for a room on-campus. Do not send it directly to Keele.
For more information click here.

We will need to receive all four forms from your International Office together with transcripts by 30 June. If you are not planning to come to Keele until January, please ask the International Office to send us a note with your name on by 30 June.

Please note that if you will be at Keele for the Spring semester and are intending to take modules at Level III the examination period for these modules will commence in the last week of the Easter vacation - therefore you will need to ensure that you select to have accommodation for this period.
