Reasonable adjustments

If you have a diagnosed disability you may be entitled to a range of reasonable adjustments to enable you to access teaching and learning environments, assessments and physical access.

  • Extended library loans
  • Modified exam arrangements
  • Help to obtain accommodation requirements
  • A study buddy to help with organisation of time
  • A mentor to help with motivation and familiarity with the academic system
  • Note takers
  • Specialist study skills tuition
  • Liaison with academic staff to ensure that they are aware of the impact of your disability/learning difficulty on your study skills
  • Liaison with academic staff to ensure that you receive lecture notes in advance and electronically and/or permission to record lectures
  • Specialist teachers for SpLD
  • Reading support
  • BSL Signers and communicators
  • Loop system in some lecture theatres
  • Mobility support
  • Enlarging of documents
  • Identification stickers for assessed work
  • Dyslexia screening, diagnostic assessment and tuition

INTERIM SUPPORT:-

Disability & Dyslexia Support may choose to provide interim support provided YOU have applied for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), can provide evidence of this, and there are good reasons why your application has been delayed. 

We must also make it clear that it is YOUR responsibility to apply for DSA.
