Criminology - Keele University

Criminology

Welcome to Criminology at Keele

Are you interested in crime and its causes?  Do you want to know more about how society treats criminals and victims?  Do you wonder why some things are called ‘crimes’ and others are not?  Does the portrayal of crime in the media interest you?  Would you like to do your own research on a criminological topic?

Whether you are thinking about studying Criminology as an undergraduate or postgraduate, Keele is the place for you.  Keele was the first University to offer criminology as an undergraduate subject in the UK and it continues to be a market leader in providing exciting and innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Criminology at Keele is taught by a large group of active criminological researchers who specialise, and publish, in areas such as policing, prosecutions, prisons, punishment and community safety, as well as criminological theory, research methods, comparative criminology and the history of crime and punishment.  We are located within the School of Sociology & Criminology

As active researchers and PhD supervisors, we are members of the Centre for Social Policy in the Research Institute for Social Sciences.
