Prunus 'Shizuka'
This cultivar was raised by Mr Masatoshi Asari in 1960 by crossing cv. ‘Erecta’ with cv. ‘Amayadori’.The purpose was to try to breed strong fragrant white-flowered cherries, which were rare in Hokkaido at that time.
The name ‘Shizuka’ means ‘quiet fragrance’ in Japanese.
