Prunus 'Matsumae-beni-higoromo'

Raised by Mr Masatoshi Asari in 1961 by hybridizing Prunus nipponica with a Prunus serrulata cultivar. A beautiful cultivar with red buds and red just before the flowers  open. The Japanese name is literally ‘Matsumae-Red-Scarlet-Robe’. It was grown at the Matsumae-Cherry Tree Collection in Hokkaido.
