Accolade - Keele University
prunus autumnalis

Keele University Arboretum

Prunus 'Accolade'

An English hybrid between P. sargentii and a form of P. x subhirtella from Knap Hill nurseries in 1952.

It has profuse semi-double pale pink flowers 30-40mm in diameter in clusters of 3 with deep pink buds. They open in April and cover the tree like a pink cloud. The leaves are toothed, bright green turning orange-red in the autumn.

It forms an open-topped tree growing up to 6-7m high by 6-7m wide and is quite hardy.
