Aims
The module aims to enable the apprentice to develop and reflect upon their personal and professional behaviour within a clinical setting and modify appropriately behaviours and techniques in light of their learning with adequate supervision for a level 5 apprentice.
With the support of Practice Educators, the apprentice will develop radiographic knowledge and skills in a relevant external setting to include General Radiography, Theatre Radiography and Computed Tomography (CT). Focusing specifically on adaptive technique, Computed Tomography Head scans and Fluoroscopy imaging within the assessment structure and undertaking these examinations using evidence-based practice and appropriate radiographic interventions. Interprofessional education will also be covered.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Reflect upon the factors that inform and affect interactions with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team and modify behaviour to meet individual patient needs: 1,2
Classify verbal and written information and prioritise it appropriately in terms of its relation to patient management and record keeping;: 1,2
Plan and implement safe diagnostic imaging in General Radiography, Computed Tomography (CT) Head imaging and Fluoroscopy: 1,2
Differentiate between common diagnoses, pathologies and the effectiveness of different Radiography investigations for diagnosis using simple clinical reasoning skills;: 1,2
Appraise own strengths and areas for development and choose the appropriate individuals from whom to seek help: 1,2,3
Identify and implement the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Apprentice within this practice experience.: 1,2,3

Study hours

5 hours scheduled teaching comprising of 5 hours lectures.
5 hours independent study
10 hours Self-directed study
5 hours assessment preparation
75 work based hours to work on the workbook
300 placement hours - in clinical placement
Please note: 20% of each week should be given to academic study, but while on the job the apprentice will still be required to complete the workbook and prepare for actual clinical encounters as part of the clinical assessment - this will form the basis of the independent study for this module.

1: Workbook weighted 40%
Continuous workbook aligned with the Practice Experience 2A Intended Learning Outcome¿s
A continual workbook with 10 milestones/activities to complete focusing on the Practice experience 2A ILO¿s. These are aligned to the apprentice and professional standards for radiography practice and thus has a qualifying mark for the module outcomes. The workbook will be structured using: Multiple choice questions Short answer questions Scaffolded reflection on practice relevant to module content Log book Interesting cases

2: Practical Exam weighted 60%
clinical assessment
Within their PE2A placement period, the apprentices will choose (based on their clinical experience and areas of clinical rotation) to complete ONE (1) of a choice of THREE (3) Actual Clinical Encounter (A.C.E) assessments to be completed: 1.CT head A.C.E 2.Theatre A.C.E 3.Plain Imaging A.C.E

Mid and end of placement professional competency assessment
A review of the apprentice¿s ability to meet professional competencies outlined by the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Apprentice within this practice experience and overall professional behaviour. Since this is a professional and apprentice standard assessment review - there is a qualifying mark for the achievement of outcomes.
