Aims
This module will introduce the principles of Axial anatomy, radiographic positioning and image interpretation for a range of examinations within the axial¿skeleton¿and the patient care related to these.¿ This module will introduce a¿systematic¿review of axial¿images and introduce¿common pathologies.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate biological science underpinning the study of the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body: 1,2Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of the normal anatomy of the bony Axial skeleton and its associated joints including radiographic appearances and common pathological processes: 1,2Undertake a range of fundamental examinations of the axial skeleton under supervision while practicing safely in relation to IR(ME)R17: 1,2Recognise poor radiographic image quality and demonstrate how to manipulate technical factors to improve this: 1,2Demonstrate the importance of and an ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative environment and undertakefundamental patient care: 1,2Undertake a systematic review of Axial plain images: 1,2Demonstrate the ability to clinically evaluate and systematically assess the technical quality of plain radiographic images of theAxial skeleton including recognition of normal anatomy and common pathologies.: 1,2Understand the importance of audit and the principles of CPD in radiography: 2
12 hours scheduled in-situ teaching,288 hours independent study made up of: 168 hours workbook directed study, 90 hours self directed study in topics and guided reading and 30 hours assessment preparation
