Description for 2024/25

This module forms part of the MSci 4 year Physiotherapy programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the
graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings.
Practice Experience 1 prepares the student for the variety of healthcare settings and the roles of different healthcare professions. The module
aims to develop transferable skills (i.e. multidisciplinary team working, problem-solving and communication) that can be applied in a variety of
healthcare settings and specialities, as well as ensuring that the students complete the requirements of the Care Certificate.
This module will involve simulation in new state-of-the-art simulation facilities on campus, including our Health Houses and mock patient ward
environments.

Aims
1. To enable the student to gain an understanding of how physiotherapy fits into the wider healthcare context.
2. To enable the student to reflect, modify and build on their personal and professional development and communication skills.
3. To enable the student to apply basic physiotherapy and healthcare specific knowledge and skills to meet individual needs of the patient and to relay information to appropriate health care professionals.
