Description for 2024/25


Aims
This module will enable the student to investigate and analyse the development and implementation of health and social policy in the UK and the relationships between government, society and policy. Students will be supported to consider particular topics in policy related to the determinants of health e.g. housing, education, and welfare, from a range of perspectives. Health policy will be examined to enable students to understand key drivers and influences underpinning policy development and change.

Study hours

25 hours face to face teaching: 15 hours lectures, 8 hours group work, 2 hour group debate

A 30 minute oral exam with a focus on health and social policy relating to health and wellbeing where students will answer a number of questions on a range of current topics linked to the wider determinants of health.
