Description for 2024/25

Whilst a university degree is a highly valued indicator of achievement and ability for employers, soft skills show employers personal attributes and qualities to help us succeed. This module aims to help students to develop a set of personal and professional skills needed to succeed in higher education and the workplace. Students will be expected to work extensively on their own initiative and to actively participate in all sessions. The module will encourage students to self-assess their existing knowledge and key skills and it will show how these may be developed and applied in ongoing professional development.

Aims
The module aims to provide students with an academic and professional skill set and knowledge upon which they can build their personal branding, and progress in their studies

Description of Module Assessment

1: Portfolio weighted 100%
A 2,000 word portfolio of evidence that documents learning in line with curriculum objectives
The module is assessed via the compilation and submission of an individual portfolio of evidence. The portfolio is based upon a selection of the issues and activities covered during the workshops and throughout the module. The submitted document should be 2,000 words (+/- 10%), excluding appendices. The Harvard referencing system should be used throughout the portfolio. Guidance and support will be provided through various means from the beginning of the module.
