Description for 2025/26

This module is intended to form and frame a learning path for developing knowledge and understanding of the changing world of work alongside enterprise as a theme that crosses subject and national boundaries as well as physical workspaces. The module recognises that successful enterprise is a combination of knowledge about business theory, trends, etc and the employability mindset to adapt and succeed in commercial/non-commercial, technological, and national/international settings as well as collaboration with partners and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work with academics, partners and your peers on a number of real-life challenges designed to enhance your enterprise and employability profile. You will have the opportunity to publish perspectives on the global challenges related tio enterprise and the future of work. Through the development of a video you will be able to research current enterprise and future of work challenges and present ideas both collaboratively and independently. Through a reflective report you will be invited to measure your own performance and progress as a modern knowledge-based worker. You will reassess your own skills, values, and the opportunities available to you locally and internationally.

Aims
This module is the second step in the Enterprise and the Future of Work pathway. The first year provided an introduction to key concepts around Enterprise and the Future of Work and the sustainability agenda and helped students understand and develop the personal qualities and competencies to act on the world and to make a difference. However, addressing global challenges requires more than individual agency and will need to be tackled by multi-agency, collaborative solutions. Students will explore these other agents and stakeholders and begin planning communities of action and this activity will be supported by theoretical considerations around key areas such as social capital and social innovation. The module will include live project work, experiential learning and collaborative initiatives that bring students together to work on projects. Indicative projects might include helping a local business identify technologies or innovations to improve their sustainability. Partnerships and partnership opportunities as well as particular kinds of projects are likely to change every year. The aim of the module is to develop effective intellectual and practical skills to address global challenges.
