Aims
The role of activism in driving change for a sustainable future is often debated in the public realm. This module aims to give students the tools to critically evaluate the role of activism in driving change for sustainability and to design, execute and evaluate their own activist project. The module explores the history and debates within sustainability activism and examines different forms of activism and provides the space for students to drive sustainability activism in an area of interest.
The module draws on different disciplinary perspectives, experiences and case studies from around the world and different organisations drawing on theory and practice.

Evaluate the role of activism in driving sustainability transformation and utilise this learning in the development of their own project

Study hours

Description of Module Assessment

1: Group Project weighted 30%
Project Proposal
A group proposal for a sustainability-focused activist project outlining the details of an activist project to be carried out in Semester 2. The proposal will be based around a template, with a word count of 1000 words.

2: Portfolio weighted 70%
Project Portfolio
Students will submit a portfolio summarising the execution and evaluation of their sustainability-focused activist project including i) group description and evidence of their activist project as a digital artefact (ie as a webpage) (500 words), ii) a group evaluation of the project's impact, what worked and what could have been done differently (1000 words), iii) and individual reflection covering their own learning and development through the module including the intersection of activism and the corporate world (750 words)
