This module focuses on the current opportunities and challenges which are being faced by managers in the workplace today. You will get the opportunity to discuss these issues with both academics and practitioners, looking at issues such as such as managing in complex times; managing for sustainability; managing in turbulent/uncertain environments; managing during the digital revolution.
Aims
This module aims to get students to think about and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing management in contemporary organisations. Students will gain insight from experts and practitioners on what is currently of interest to managers and consideration of possible future scenarios that organisations are likely to face. In doing so, it aims to develop students ability to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management to complex situations in order to enhance decision making and management practice.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Poster Presentation weighted 40%Group posterIn a group of 3 or 4 students, create an A3 poster suitable for a management audience. The poster should focus on a particular challenge or opportunity facing managers and this should be agreed with the module leader prior to commencement of the assignment. The purpose of the poster is to either raise awareness of the issue and/or provide suggested ways of addressing it.
Each group will present their poster to an audience of their peers and academic staff. An element of the marks will be based on peer assessment which will give students a 10% variance based on peer review input of performance.
2: Report weighted 60%3000-word case study-based reportStudents will develop a case study linked to one of the themes covered on the module. The case study should include links to academic literature and utilise real examples from industry or other forms of organisation.
