The module considers the role of HRM by embracing the `thinking performer¿ perspective and providing students with knowledge of a range of issues that an HR professional needs to know and might meet in the workplace. The module also offers students an opportunity to reflect on the requirements for HRM graduates in the workplace, to link these to the competencies needed by an HR professional and to develop their own action plan for personal development. Successful completion of this module is essential for CIPD accreditation.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Portfolio weighted 100%A 4,000-word portfolioThe module is assessed via the compilation and submission of an individual portfolio of evidence. The portfolio is based upon a selection of the issues and activities covered during the workshops, including a personal development plan. It also reviews activities and learning undertaken during other modules in the HRM course through reflection. The portfolio of evidence will utilise appropriate models in conducting the investigation that have been learnt and discussed in the module. The submitted document should be approximately 4,000 words (excluding appendices) and the Harvard referencing system should be used throughout the portfolio.
