PTY-20047 Rehabilitation in Sport (Level 5)
This module complements the programme content introduced in Level 4 and in Level 5 in relation to the science of rehabilitation. The focus of this module is rehabilitation in sport; it will develop the student's understanding of the sports rehabilitation process, prevention and management of sports injuries and the impact of sports injuries, both physical and psychological.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Analyse the components of the sports injury rehabilitation process.: 1Classify common sports injuries and analyse the effect of injury on the musculoskeletal system with reference to physical performance and prognosis.: 1Discuss the selection of appropriate performance measures in the assessment of sports injuries.: 1Evaluate the use of exercise interventions in the rehabilitation of sports injuries.: 1Evaluate the impact of a long-term injury on psychological health and recovery.: 1Evaluate the contribution of members of the multidisciplinary team to sports injury rehabilitation.: 1Discuss common approaches to sports injury prevention and evaluate their effectiveness.: 11
30 tutor led hours which may include lectures, workshops, tutorials etc. and assessment preparation.120 hours independent study.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Presentation weighted 100%Twenty five minute individual presentationThe student will give an individual presentation of up to 15 minutes which will be followed by 10 minutes of examiner questions. The presentation will critically evaluate [an] evidence-based approach/es to the rehabilitation of a common sports injury.
