This module forms part of the BSc (Hons) Rehabilitation Science programme at Keele University, an innovative, integrated programme which prepares the graduate for further study or employment in a health and social care setting. The module offers students a broad-based introduction to key concepts related to global health and social care. Within the module students will explore, analyse and critically evaluate aspects of current global healthcare issues and priorities. Their impact and implications for policy makers, service providers and the general population will also be explored. The module will use a range of learning and teaching approaches to enable students to analyse a wide variety of information, reflect upon key issues and propose critically reasoned solutions. Students will have the opportunity to select and explore one aspect of global healthcare in depth.
Aims
To introduce students to aspects of health and social care in the context of both national and international healthcare economies.
Intended Learning Outcomes

30 tutor led hours which may include lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials and two hours of assessment preparation classes etc.120 hours of independent study.
Successful completion of a minimum of 105 credits of the BSc (Hons) Rehabilitation Science at Level 5, normally at Keele University.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Assignment weighted 100%A 3,000 word written assignment on a specific aspect of global healthThe 3,000 word assignment will offer students the opportunity to explore and evaluate a student selected aspect of health/ social care provision within the global healthcare economy. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate reasoned choices, explore the opportunities and challenges presented by their chosen area of study and offer recommendations for the future.
