| The BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy at Keele is an innovative, integrated programme which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings. The programme will reflect the shifting emphasis away from increasing the quantity of care available towards enhancing the quality of care, moving away from a medical disease model towards a health model based on personal responsibility and prevention of disease. The student will study in campus based settings and a variety of clinical settings. During clinical placements students will be supported by experienced clinical educators who will assess the clinical component of the programme. Campus based assessments will be assessed by academic staff. Successful graduates of the three year programme are eligible to apply for registration with the Health Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. | ||||||

| This module will incorporate the analysis and synthesis of information from case study materials concerning patients with complex problems. This information will be appraised, and in conjunction with the latest evidence, will be used to formulate a management strategy for the particular problems. This reflects the nature of assessing and managing patients with complex problems in everyday clinical practice.
Students will have covered basic pathology, literature-reviewing skills and will have completed some practice based learning prior to attending this module. This previous experience will be built upon by using specific patient based problems to extend the student&©s clinical reasoning and patient management skills. Teaching and learning strategies will include interactive lectures, workshops, and problem based learning, seminars and self-study time. Multiple methods will be used to encourage the students to extract information from a variety of sources. The student will use this information to formulate and apply patient management.
