Amanda Crummett
Amanda recently graduated from Liverpoool John Moores University (2004-2007) gaining a BA.hons in Applied Community Studies. She Joined Keele in Jan 2008 where she is currently conducting research for the New Dynamics of Ageing Programme within the Institute for Life Course Studies.
Amanda's research interests relate to social policy & community development with particular interests in the study of inequality, disadvantage and social exclusion. She also has a progressing interest in the development of strategies for encouraging community engagement, social change and the enhancement of Social Capital.

Sharon Middling
Sharon has been employed in the field of social care for nine years, including working with homeless children, adults with disabilities, older people with disabilities and mental illness and children with autism, epilepsy, and learning disabilities.Sharon has just finished a review and evaluation project for Turning Point of their service in Northwich. The project provided a route to effecting changes to service delivery, evaluated the range of community drug and alcohol services offered, and proposed strategies for engaging hard to reach drug and alcohol misusers.
Sharon graduated from Keele University in July 2004 with a 1 st class honours degree in social work, and is currently studying for a MRes in social relations. Sharon's main areas of interest are social work, older people and government policy. In addition to this, Sharon also has an interest in undertaking an examination of the interface between the often conflicting aspects of social policy and actual practice, in respect of direct payments. Sharon joined the NDA research in September 2008 and will be focusing on welfare and benefits.
Jan Bailey
Jan worked for 25 years in the public sector during which time, as well as undertaking main stream roles, she also worked with stake holders in the community, local and national government and other agencies on initiatives with a focus on people of working age. Alongside her full time employment, Jan undertook part time study and graduated in 1998 with a BSc in Psychology awarded by The University of Manchester and then gained a post graduate diploma in Management Studies at Liverpool Hope University.
Two years ago Jan decided to pursue a career change and has recently gained an MSc in Health Psychology from Staffordshire University.
Jan's research interests are in the areas of health promotion, health inequality and barriers to healthy living. She is also interested in the experience of long term conditions and their treatment with a particular focus on cancer.
