Training opportunities at CAEP

Training for higher degrees can be obtained at CAEP. Any funded PhD or MPhil projects will be advertised from the CAEP home page (click on "Home" in the navigation bar to the left). We also have many possible projects for PhD and MPhil that are not funded. The subject areas for these projects are those listed for each staff member. You can view these by clicking on "Research areas" in the navigation bar to the left. There are several funded MSc places for students from the European Union. When enquiring, you should send a copy of your curriculum vitae and indicate your potential sources of funding.

We run a comprehensive training programme, which includes courses in presentation skills, information technology and data analysis. A wide range of modern techniques can be learnt, including gene sequencing, real-time PCR, monoclonal antibody production, RNA analysis, immunoassays, protein chemistry, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and electron microscopy.

Students have the opportunity to meet many visiting researchers and are encouraged to publish their own findings and make poster and oral presentations at international meetings.

PhD

A three-year research degree. Any funded PhD projects will be advertised from the CAEP home page (click on "Home" in the navigation bar to the left). We also have many possible projects for PhD that are not funded. The subject areas for these projects are those listed for each staff member. You can view these by clicking on "Research areas" in the navigation bar to the left. Funding can be sought from sources such as the British Council. Information about  postgraduate study at Keele is available online. You should fill in the online web form or contact the named supervisor if you are interested in a particular project.

MPhil

A one-year full-time or two-year part-time research degree. Any funded MPhil projects will be advertised from the CAEP home page (click on "Home" in the navigation bar to the left). We also have many possible projects for MPhil that are not funded. The subject areas for these projects are those listed for each staff member. MSc

We run a one-year taught course in Molecular Parasitology and Vector Biology. This course is taught jointly with the universities of Salford and Manchester and our MSc students come from all around the world. MSc places are not automatically funded. See the Molecular_Parasitology leaflet for further details. A number of Keele International Student Scholarships for a part-fee reduction are available to students from some countries. MRes

A one-year training course is available, which includes scientific and generic training based at Keele University and an associate European research partner. A six to seven month research project is undertaken at the host European research partner institute. The training is funded for EU graduate students by the Erasmus work placement scheme and a range of disciplines is offered.
