From Bulgaria with Love…Luke’s Bulgarian Adventure!
Luke Spolander, a 2012 graduate from Keele University was one of only 14 students/graduates from the UK chosen to visit Tryavna in Bulgaria this Summer.
The main objective of this EU funded project was the exchange and sharing of knowledge and experiences in the area of entrepreneurship with enterprise educators and students in Bulgaria, where there is a growing increase in popularity for enterprise.
Luke, owner and founder of Varsity Trading Company Ltd, has recently completed the SPEED Plus project at Keele, which is designed for those budding entrepreneurs who want to learn how to start their own business.
SPEED Plus is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and provides intensive business workshops, support and funding of up to £1,500 to help get those fledgling ideas up and running into real businesses.
So, when the opportunity arose from Enterprise Educators UK, the Student Enterprise Team contacted all their past SPEED Plus students…and Luke was lucky enough to be chosen for the exciting, all expenses paid trip to Bulgaria.
Luke said: “I was forwarded the information regarding the trip from Dee Frankish, Student Enterprise Manager and I just applied on the off-chance.
“The experience was extremely rewarding. It was an excellent opportunity and not just in a cultural exchange, but also to share ideas and the enterprise skills that I’ve learned from the SPEED Plus programme.”
