Artists from across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire are invited to take part in the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition.
Prizes for the competition include The Arthur Berry Prize, worth £1,000; the Barracks Trust Prize worth £250, and Keele University Prizes of £300, £150 and £50.
The annual Three Counties Open Art exhibition at Keele University has gained a reputation for being one of the most outstanding showcases of art from Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire. In the month long exhibition in the lead up to Christmas artists get the opportunity to exhibit up to three pieces of work. In previous year the competition has received hundreds of entries meaning the final pieces selected for exhibition are not only top quality but also diverse in style and subject.
Arthur Berry was a gifted painter, poet and playwright. He was born and bred in Stoke on Trent and returned to the city after a short time teaching at the Royal College of Art and Chelsea. He was industrious and committed to his art and to the landscape of North Staffordshire, producing a large output of paintings that are now in many public and private collections, full length plays and volumes of poetry. A charitable fund was established after his death in 1994 and it is from this legacy that artists of today will benefit.
Artists selected to exhibit have the opportunity to sell their work.
The Exhibition will run from November 12 to December 11. To find out more or to receive a hard copy of the entry form E: arts@keele.ac.uk
You will be able to download an application form from this website shortly.
Remember photographers, the next Three Counties Photography Exhibition will take place in spring 2014.
