Almond - Prunus dulcis

Originating from North Africa and western Asia, the Almond has long been cuultivated for its edible seeds. It is also widely planted for its spring flowers but in this part of the World it is quite tender. The fruit has a characteristic habit of exuding a sticky resin - shown in the photograph below.
