What our Students Say

Alison Leese L3 Posted on 31 July 2012 My time as a student of American Studies at Keele University has been extremely enjoyable. Hannah Bailey   Hannah Bailey Level I student Posted on 26 August 2010 I have just completed my first year in EALS (English and American Literature) and have loved it! Before I came to Keele I had all the usual questions buzzing round my head – Have I chosen the right course? Christopher Lockwood 90x90   Christopher Lockwood (EALs student graduating 2009) Posted on 25 August 2010 Unlike the English &... courses offered by Keele, English & American Literatures is the only one which allows you to concentrate wholly on studying literature. Thus, at Keele it is unique. aidan jones 90x90   Aidan Jones (2nd year English and American Literatures student) Posted on 25 August 2010 In my first year as a student on the EALs course I have found that the course is a close knit group. The small size means that students quickly get to know each other and makes settling in very easy, it also means that there are a high number of lecturers to students. They are regularly available to provide help and both they and the administrative staff are very friendly. harriet hearle 90x90   Harriet Earle (3rd Year English and American Literatures student) Posted on 25 August 2010 I am a third year EALs (that’s English and American Literature) student. As this is a small course, with a lot of time spent with the same group of people, you get to know everyone on it very quickly. Because of the size of the course there are less students per tutor – so more interaction with the members of staffs and a good student-tutor relationship. emma hagger 90x90   Emma Hagger (2nd Year Single Hons American Studies student) Posted on 25 August 2010 I have mostly loved the variety available in American Studies, in my first year I have learnt about American history, politics, literature, music and more, and have developed an understanding of America as a place and culture and gained insight into a country that is often mis-portrayed in
the media.
cat burton-taylor 90x90   Cat Burton-Cartledge Posted on 25 August 2010 Cat Burton-Cartledge (Single Hons American Studies student graduating 2008)

When I started my American Studies degree I was told that the department was proud of its commitment to pastoral care, and during my three years at Keele the support that’s been offered has been brilliant.
