Pollinator Walk

Reconnecting with nature is a great way to reenergise and refresh body and soul.

Due to the outstanding reaction Appetite received to their recent Kidsgrove Canal Nature Recovery walk series, we’ve decided to bring some of those walks away from the canal to find out more about the life sprouting, buzzing and teaming around Keele campus as part of What on Earth?!

For this special Earth Day walk on campus, Andrea Ku - an artist beekeeper and biodiversity specialist of B 4 Biodiversity - returns to look at pollinators, learn about the different types of pollinators locally, and which plants rely on insects for pollination. You will hopefully get up close and personal to some pollinators to see them in action. Glen Stoker will also be on hand to give exciting updates on the nature walk project and dates for future events.

This will be a gentle tour of the green spaces taking a closer look at some plants and inside flowers to show how insects pollinate. The walk is suitable for all ages but you will need mobility as the route may be uneven and possibly muddy, so make sure to wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

You might also be interested in the Forager Walks with Wild Pickle on Sunday. You can find the link to book onto that one in the What on Earth?! Eventbrite collection.

This activity takes place in Keele Woods. Meet the walk leader at Keele Hall courtyard, which is location 12 on this campus map.

NB: this activity may be subject to change depending on the weather. If in doubt, please check in to the Appetite HQ gazebo based in Union Square.
